The clutch cover, also known as the pressure plate, is a metal housing that contains a diaphragm spring. When the clutch pedal is depressed, the diaphragm spring engages and presses the clutch disc against the flywheel, transferring engine power to the transmission. The clutch disc, located between the cover and flywheel, contains friction material that allows for smooth engagement and disengagement of the clutch.
